1930
*Surfing is introduced in Peru after a Peruvian surfer
travel to Hawaii, learns to surf, then returns home to find plenty
of surf and not a single surfer.
1932
*Tom Blake's Olo Usu and the hardwood composite "Waikiki"
style surfboard is the preferred board of choice. Blake's "Cigar
style" hollow paddleboard, 16 feet in length, is also very popular.
1935
*San Onofre, a series of gentle-breaking waves at the
San Diego/Orange County border, is the most popular surf spot on the
California coast.
*National Geographic publishes several photos taken of surfers at
Waikiki by surfer Tom Blake from his paddleboard. These photos spark
the birth of modern surf photography.
1938
*A 10'6" C Tucker "Slantwise" ultra-light
paddle board made out of pine is the preferred board of choice for
surfers in the know.
